The OneSearch search box in the center of the UMGC Library's home page searches approximately half of the Library's databases at once, which makes it a good place to begin your research on just about any topic.
See How do I use OneSearch? and What databases are included in OneSearch? for more information.
Since OneSearch does not search all of the Library's databases, doctoral students should not limit themselves to OneSearch alone when conducting research. Different databases provide access to different documents, so you could miss out on finding relevant articles for your research if you only use OneSearch.
You can find a complete alphabetic list of the UMGC Library's databases by clicking on the Databases by Title (A-Z) link below the OneSearch box, toward the center of the Library's home page:
Note that each database's entry in the list is followed by a brief description of the database, which can help you determine whether a particular database will be useful for your research.
UMGC librarians have created a number of different research guides to assist students with their research. Each guide provides a list of recommended databases and other resources relevant to conducting research in a particular subject area or for a particular course, etc.
The Library's Research Guides page contains a complete list of research guides. You can also access the list by clicking on the Research Guides tab toward the top of the Library's home page.
The list of research guides includes two that were created specifically for doctoral students:
